inside out
fences and alleys and change
We moved into the neighborhood a lifetime ago. The houses across the alley were abandoned. I’d watch from my bathroom window as addicts would pass in and out of them to score/get high. Now they’re occupied by lovely families with children and dogs.
I love to walk down the alleys. They tell the story of the changing neighborhood. You see how much people really trust about their neighbors. Security cameras and no trespassing signs are replaced by dog shit bag stands and landscaped beds. And the old tall privacy fences are torn down, replaced with new tall privacy fences.
I’m not always sure which version is more honest.
